Preaching and officiating regularly at St. John’s, John Dwyer brings to us a rich and varied background in both the church and the world of finance and insurance. Currently, he is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, the Episcopal Seminary in Berkeley. He oversees the daily operations of the seminary, now a part of New York’s Trinity Church Wall Street.
Before coming to CDSP, John spent seven years as rector of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, in Roseville, Minnesota. He was treasurer and on the standing committee of the Episcopal Church of Minnesota (EMNC) and a practicum instructor in their School for Formation. He was also active in Episcopal churches in both Washington DC and Maryland. Before attending seminary, John practiced law in New York City for 18 years, focusing in the corporate insurance and finance areas. He earned his Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2007. He received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in Jamaica, NY, and earned a B.A. from Fairfield University in Connecticut. John now lives in Berkeley with his husband, Ben Riggs, and their 3-year-old Bernedoodle, Hudson. |
