Jon serves as a vocational deacon and has a passion for advocacy work, servant ministry and leadership. Having served in local government and as a Director for the YMCA. Jon combines his expertise in nonprofit management and communication work to help grow and revitalize churches. Before ordination he served as a hospital chaplain and was a part of Episcopal Service Corps.
A native of Oklahoma, he is big into the performing arts. Jon studied vocal music at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Mass Communication at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Jon joined the Episcopal Service Corps in Omaha, NE after college and then served as a hospital chaplain resident specializing in mental health with youth and geriatrics. He moved to the Bay area and attended the Episcopal School for Deacons in Berkeley, CA. Jon moved around for his secular career and attended Florida Atlantic University (FAU) where he received his Master of Nonprofit Management degree. He is currently working on his PhD in Educational Leadership at FAU. Jon was raised up for ordination by St. James, San Francisco and ordained in 2012. Since ordination, Jon has had a variety of experiences, working in church communication, health ministry, youth ministry, social justice, and outreach as well as various diaconate roles locally and nationally and nonprofit boards. He served at Holy Child & St. Martin in Daly City, CA; St. Thomas in St. Petersburg, FL; All Saints, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He now has entered full time ministry in 2019 with St. John’s and serves on Executive Council for the Diocese of California. |
