A Prayer for Choristers
Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants, who minister in Thy temple.
Grant that what we sing with our lips, we may believe in our hearts,
and what we believe in our hearts, we may show forth in our lives.

St. John’s community believes in all-inclusive worship experiences where children of all ages come together.  Our music program, consisting of five choirs, enriches worship by leading praise with music from many genres.

Youth Choral Music Program:

Our youth choristers play a vital part in this vision.  Their unique voices and energy not only enrich worship, but also serve as a reminder that we are all children of God.  St. John’s is dedicated to growing this essential ministry.  Following Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCM) curricula, youth choristers learn elements of music and vocal production during rehearsals.  Regular participation during worship offers opportunities to perform, learn and understand music as part of worship. The program is comprised of three age groups:

Primary & Junior Choir:  Rehearsals are on Tuesdays 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. starting on September 12th.  Children ages 4-10 learn, through the joy of singing, the fundamentals of music.  Rehearsals are fun and focus on voice production, rhythm, and basic score reading.

Senior Choir:  Rehearsals are on Tuesdays 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. starting on September 5th.  Our Senior Choristers, ages 11-17, not only join, but also lead our 10:00 a.m. Sunday worship service, singing alongside gifted members of our adult Chancel Choir during the third and last Sunday services of each month as well as special liturgies.  During weekly rehearsals, choristers learn theory, sight singing, music history, and choral singing.

Chancel Choir:  Our dedicated professional and volunteer adult choristers enrich weekly worship services with their musical leadership from early September to mid-June.  Their exceptional talents and dedication inspire the community of St. John’s and all who come.  They are the solid foundation on which St. John’s music program is built.  Thursday rehearsal schedules, starting September 7th, are as follows:

7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  Sopranos and Altos
7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Tenors and Basses

Summer ChoirChoristers and music lovers of all ages, are invited to participate in this ministry during summer months.  Singers meet 1 hour before the 10:00 a.m. service to rehearse anthem, Psalm, hymns, and service music.  Then they sing in the service!  Summer Choir begins on June 10th, 2018.
