Ministry Catalysts
Catalyst (cat•a•lyst): 1. a person whose talk, enthusiasm, or energy causes others to be more friendly, enthusiastic, or energetic. 2. something that causes activity between two or more persons or forces without itself being affected
3. a person or thing that precipitates an event or change
“Ministry Catalyst” is the name for the seven dynamic parish members who are contributing their expertise as resources for St. John’s more than 40 program areas and groups. The position name reflects the proactive communications role these leaders play at St. John’s. They meet once a month to coordinate events and stimulate parish life.
The people serving as Ministry Catalysts were recruited based on their knowledge of St. John’s unique culture and their passion to help groups within the church thrive while realizing St. John’s unifying mission of invitation, inclusion, faith and action. They are vital links between the many groups within St. John’s, helping them to communicate and connect with other groups, so that the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts. The goal of the Catalysts is to support their specific groups and to help find more ways for them to connect positively with the rest of the St. John’s family.
If you have questions, ideas, or interest in getting involved in a specific program or group, but don’t know how to get started, or you are already involved with a program at St. John’s and need fresh ideas or help with problem-solving, the next four pages give the list of Ministry Catalysts and ministry chair people to turn to as resources:
