Schedule of Ecology Group meetings  here

The next Ecology Group meeting will be on Monday, March 3 at 7:00 pm, at the home of Bonnie and Jerry Moran, 2600 Carisbrook Dr., Oakland.  We welcome interested visitors and/or
new members.

Our annual Ecology field trip is scheduled for March and features a building characterized by eco-friendly design.
The field trip is Saturday, 3/29, to the Presentation Retreat and Conference Center located on 67 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains near Los Gatos. We will meet at church at 9:00 for carpooling. The tour will begin at 10:30 and lunch begins at 12. The LEED certified, award-winning Welcome Center is made of straw bale walls, a "living" roof, photovoltaic electric power and more. All are welcome to join this field trip.

NEW!  Recycle your Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Along with batteries and printer cartridges St. John's provides one more environmentally
friendly opportunity to dispose of your "worn out" CFL's.  Please check the Narthex for
the appearance of an appropriately labeled receptacle for your old compact fluorescent
light bulbs.

Battery Recycling Program: A container has been placed just inside the front door of the church (on the right-hand side) for batteries.  Please bring your used batteries to St. John's and deposit them in the silver container. Batteries should not be thrown into the garbage because they contain toxic materials that are harmful to the environment. A member of the Ecology Group will bring these batteries to the Hazardous Waste Center.

Printer Cartridge Program:  The Ecology Group is collecting empty computer and fax printer cartridges. We have made arrangements with a local company who will refill and resell these cartridges - - - a good example of "reuse". Please bring those empty cartridges to St. John's and deposit them in the yellow and blue container that is just inside the front door of the church. We will be paid for each cartridge that is collected.
